The capacity at Machu Picchu is increased
Starting Friday, June 19, Machu Picchu will begin its peak tourist season with a maximum capacity of 5,600 visitors per day, in accordance with Ministerial Resolution No. 285-2025-MC. Maritza Rosa Candia, director of the Decentralized Directorate of Culture of Cusco, reported that until June 18, the daily entry limit remains at 4,600 people and confirmed that in-person ticket sales will continue at Machu Picchu Pueblo (the town of Machu Picchu). She clarified that any future increase in visitor capacity will depend on technical studies that guarantee the preservation of the archaeological site.

In accordance with Article 1 of Ministerial Resolution No. 000528-2023-MC, the maximum carrying capacity for visits to the Inca city of Machu Picchu in 2026 is established at 5,600 visitors per day on the following dates: January 1, 2026; April 2-5, 2026; June 19-November 2, 2026; and December 30-31, 2026. The capacity for the tourist routes is detailed in the Annex to this Ministerial Resolution.
