The Ministry of Culture, through the Decentralized Directorate of Culture of Cusco, and the Ministry of the Environment, through the National Service of Natural Protected Areas (SERNANP), hereby inform tourism agencies operating on the Inca Trail Network of Machu Picchu of the following:

1. Following a technical inspection of routes 1, 2, and 3 of the Inca Trail Network of Machu Picchu, with the participation of representatives from the Regional Office of Disaster Risk Management and Security (ORGRDS) of the Regional Government of Cusco and the Decentralized Directorate of Cusco of the National Institute of Civil Defense (INDECI), it has been determined that tourist visits will resume on Saturday, September 5, 2026.
2. Personnel from both institutions, with the support of residents of the community of Wayllabamba, will continue to carry out maintenance work on certain sections of the network to ensure the safety and well-being of visitors.
3. Furthermore, it has been agreed to implement short-, medium-, and long-term actions to address the impacts caused by the geodynamic activation of some ravines and to reduce the risks these conditions may pose to visitors.

The Ministry of Culture and SERNANP are taking the necessary steps to guarantee the proper functioning and safety of the Inca Trail Network of Machu Picchu.
